Problems in a long distance relationship

Communication
On a chat window, your partner just knows you say hi to him, minus all the emotions and the charm. Well, most people are actually OK with this long distance communication, now that even people who live face to face send emails and chat online. However, with a Long Distance Relationship you rely on third person or ‘something else’ (the technology) for your communication.

If your browser crashes?, if there are server problems with Google, Yahoo, Skype or whatever? or if your web-cam is not working?, you always rely on something else to get your words sent to your partner and if that ‘something’ fails then that leads to depression, anxiety, stress, the feel of distance, misunderstandings and many more things.

Stress
Stress is prevalent in any relationship, but with a Long Distance Relationship the chances that one gets stressed are very high. It is easy to get stressed when there is not enough communication (and especially if you both are willing to communicate but your circumstances don’t permit you to do so). You will also see how stress can easily come in a Long Distance Relationship if you read the following points.

Cheating
This is a crucial factor that leads to ending of many a Long Distance Relationship. There are two possibilities that a Long Distance Relationship breaks due to cheating. (i) There is actually cheating (or) (ii) There is a suspicion on the partner. It is so true that it is very easy to cheat in a Long Distance Relationship.

All the time you have a feeling that your partner is not near you and he/she cannot know the issue. Further, there is lack of personal time with your partner and hence it is more likely that your mind is
tempted to fill up the gap.

Rule setting and breaking
With a Long Distance Relationship everybody has the tendency to set rules. No flirting, no dating, no parties, whatever! But it is also easy to break them. You know your partner is not watching you and it is easy to break one or two (or all of them) rules and just say a lie!

This will develop into a problem in the long run. It is because you cannot go on and on with lies for a long time. You may get caught any time, somehow. This puts a serious threat to the trust in the relationship.

Spying
Due to causes like the opportunity to cheat, insufficient communication, etc. it is easy that anyone easily gets inclined to the idea of spying their partner. By spying I don’t literally mean spying, but I know cases where people get friends who study with their partner.

They also find all possible ways to track what their partner is doing or where they are going by not directly asking the same to their partner. This again, puts threat to the trust in the relationship.
